I feel framing is a strategy that I became familiar with in English 101 and it is extremely dynamic, crucial, and applicable to my future in writing. For much of my life I have had a deep desire to produce writing on an individual level for personal growth and satisfaction. Much of the writing that I create and have created is mainly that of screenplays and acoustic/vocal renditions. Although, my literary mind is not confined to only create within these genres. Thus, the ability to use framing concepts in writing is a necessity to allow readers to completely comprehend my work within a genre. To best describe and present my personal creations in a manner that an audience can understand, I must frame my ideas in a way that reflects my personal intentions while, simultaneously, considering the expectations of the audience. Therefore, these two elements of the audience and the creator are the variables which are tied together through this concept of framing.
In any form of writing, ethos and tone are extremely important aspects. The tone of my writing proves to reflect my personal feelings, as well as the intended attitude for and towards the subject. My future in academic writing will require I adopt an ethos that conveys an understanding of the subject while, simultaneously, presenting a unique writing style. Moreover, if I continue to write screenplays and music, I must develop, recognize and establish a distinctive ethos in my writing; provided that I strive to become an artist that is distinguishable from the larger sum of writers and musicians.
I believe if an individual wishes to truly understand anything in its entirety he or she must consider all sides. That being the case, forwarding and countering moves are incredibly important for the development of complete comprehension. In English 101 we were taught to incorporate these moves in our essays to help expand our initial ideas and evolve our thesis. A thesis which polarizes itself to one side of an argument, I feel, stagnates and fails to convince me of its original intentions. Therefore, in much of my writing, whether it be academic or personal, I make a conscious effort to explore all perspectives of the subject that I am writing about, so that the audience can analyze an objective paper and come to a subjective conclusion
